Amherst School Board Voted to Send Wilkins Building Project Back to the Ballot

Oct 24, 2024

Amherst, NH – October 2024 – Now that school is open, the Amherst School Board is focusing on informing the community about the Wilkins Building Project. After receiving significant support from Amherst residents (54% of votes at the polls), and encouragement from community members, the School Board decided in June to move forward with the consistent design for the Wilkins Building Project, which will be brought back for a community vote in the upcoming March 11, 2025 election.

The Wilkins Building Project proposes an upgraded facility designed to meet the needs of Amherst’s students and educators now and in the future. This initiative aims to address critical age and space-related issues within our schools to better serve our students and community.

Community feedback has played a critical role in shaping the project’s direction, ensuring that it aligns with the values and priorities of Amherst residents.

“The proposed building represents our vision for the future. These changes would create a space where students can thrive, with facilities designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning.” – Kathleen Murphy, Clark-Wilkins School Principal.
